S3 means Simple Storage Service. EBS stands for Elastic Block Store. Both AWS S3 and EBS are the file storage services provided by Amazon.
Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS) is a simple-to-use, high-performance block storage solution. It is designed for use with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) for both high-throughput and transactional workloads. Amazon EBS supports a wide range of workloads, including relational and non-relational databases. It also supports corporate applications, containerized applications, big data analytics engines, file systems, and media workflows.
AWS S3 is a safe, long-lasting, and highly scalable object storage system that can hold a variety of file formats. It is a static storage service that may be used to host static websites, distribute media, manage versions, do big data analytics, and archive data. It is simple to use and has a simple online interface for storing and retrieving any quantity of data from anywhere on the internet. Buckets (akin to folders) are used to hold files, and bucket names must be unique.
